Before you enter the airport, you should take the time to familiarize yourself with the usual security rules such as the type of identification you need and basic baggage rules such as whether or not valuable or important personal items should be in your hand baggage. Below is a link to important information about security and baggage, including recommendations on how to handle TSA procedures and how to pack your hand and checked baggage safely. To know what to pack in hand and checked baggage, arrive at the airport and check the list below.

Liquids
Around the world, airports restrict liquids and gel items in hand luggage to bottles larger than 100 millilitres, and they must fit into a zipped plastic bag the size of a quarter or a litre. Liquid foods are carried in checked bags and not in hand baggage, with the exception of breast milk and juices for children. Check the rules with the country you are flying from, but in most cases, you will have to tell the screening agent that you have liquid medicines in addition to the one-litre bag you are allowed. Most types of alcohol are not a problem in checked baggage up to 140 times, but some, such as alcohol and strong rum, may not be carried in your crossbody backpacks.
Jewellery
We recommend that you leave jewellery and other valuables at home during your trip, but if you take them on the road, keep them safely in your handbag. Be sure to keep documents in your Checked Baggage, especially original copies that may contain personal information such as Social Security numbers and bank details. Also make sure that your baggage is properly labelled and taken from gate to check-in, as gate-to-check bags are more easily mishandled than regular checked bags and you will want your contact information in your baggage if your airline misleads you.
Flammable or Explosive Items
Matches are prohibited in checked baggage and flammable objects such as paint and liquid fuels should be avoided. Fireworks, bleach, paint thinners and other flammable and explosive items may not be carried in Checked Baggage. If you want to bring one, put it in your checked baggage to cut through it and injure baggage handlers and baggage inspectors not to cut through it. Self-defence items such as Nerf pistols and their ammunition, guns packed in double-sided suitcases, pepper spray and nutmeg spray are permitted but only if checked baggage is equipped with security mechanisms to prevent accidental discharge.
This post lists some of the items you should never put in your casual backpacks for travel, in addition to those prohibited in Checked Baggage. There are not many TSA restrictions to consider when checking in, but there are some worst-case scenarios to consider.
